In just their second outing of the season, the Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ golf team claimed their second straight team victory.
The Fillies were on the road at conference foe Indianola Monday night for a one-on-one battle where they came out on top 183 to 225. Five out of the six Fillie golfers carded scores at or below 50 strokes for the meet. Two such golfers were at the top of the heap as Aubree Klug, a fourth-place finisher in the Perry Invitational, claimed the medalist honor with a nine-hole score of 41. That score alone marks Klug’s career best nine-hole low score.
Following close behind Klug’s strong performance was Lydia Steier. After placing second in the Perry Invite, Steier earned runner-up status at Indianola with a nine-hole round of 44, just missing out on her career low nine-hole mark of 43, set back in the 2016-17 season.
Kaylin Petrak continued on the DC-G scores by carding a nine-hole round of 48, giving the freshman her best nine-hole score of the season so far. Petrak was followed by senior Annagrace Dalbey and sophomore Emerson Kleis, both of whom carded nine-hole rounds of 50.
Morgan Stork rounded out the scoring with a nine-hole score of 75, as the Fillies took hold of their second straight first place team finish of the season.
Next up on the docket for Fillie golf will be the 2019 home opener as Dallas Center-Grimes welcomes in longtime rival and former conference foe ADM on Thursday, April 11. It will be a nine hole meet that is set to begin with tee off at 4 p.m.
