It was a Herculean effort by the Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ basketball team Friday night, but they ended up pulling a come from behind victory to defeat Pella Christian on the road 40-33.
It was a tale of two halves for both squads with an inauspicious start to the game for the Fillies. It began with DC-G’s third lowest single quarter score of the season (eight points) coupled with a nine point second quarter, giving them a 19-17 deficit at the half. Then the Fillies turned it up to another level, scoring ten points to initiate the second half. The Fillies entered the contest having averaged 12 points per fourth quarter but Friday night, the touched up 13 points in the win.
The Fillies’ victory now gives them a 13-5 record as they enter the final stretch of the regular season. The next two games on the docket for the Fillies include a home contest against Oskaloosa on Saturday, Feb. 2 and another conference match against Pella on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
