The Dallas Center-Grimes basketball team was back on the road on Friday, Feb. 9. The Mustangs traveled to Pella to take on the Dutch and came away with a big 60-34 victory.

The Mustangs (11-9) outscored the Dutch (10-10) in three out of four quarters, taking a 46-19 lead into the fourth quarter, where the Dutch finally achieved a 15-14 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Mustangs held a significant shooting advantage against the Dutch. The Mustangs shot 22-of-40 from the field and 4-of-13 from long range while the Dutch were just 14-of-48 from the field and 6-of-22 from beyond the arc.

The Mustangs were led by senior Damon Clapper, who was 6-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range for 17 points. Fellow senior Jordan Humphreys was near a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds to go with three assists.

Steve Borneman shot 3-0f-7 from the floor and had 10 points with five rebounds an three assists. Senior Justin Protzman had nine points, six assists and had a team-high four assists.

Pella freshman Grant Nelson came off the bench and led the Dutch with 10 points, grabbing three rebounds in the process.

The Mustangs wrap up the regular season on Thursday and will start the Substate Tournament against Norwalk on the road on Feb. 19. The game at Urbandale tips off at 7:45 p.m. and the Substate game tips off at 6:30 p.m.
