Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys’ and girls’ track and field combined to qualify for 16 events at state. The Tigers’ boys finished fourth in district competition at Winterset, and the girls earned a third-place finish.
A-D-M girls qualified in all seven relays. In the 4x100-meter shuttle hurdle relay, the Tigers posted a time of one minute, 6.76 seconds. The first place finish by Kylie Hauf, Kristen Baier, Sami Schepers and Maggi Bjustrom qualified for state.
With a time of 51.79, A-D-M qualified in the 4x100-meter relay with the group of Olivia Anderson, Bjustrom, Schepers and Sydney Bertman.
In the 4x200-meter relay, the Tigers finished second. Anderson, Brianna Mueller, Anna Kenny and Bertman combined for a time of 1:50.86.
A-D-M took home a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. With a time of 4:11.50, Kenny, Sadie Juergens, Anderson and Brianna Mueller qualified for state.
The 4x800-meter relay also went well for the Tigers’ girls. Kenny, Ellise Mueller, Juergens and Brianna Mueller earned a first-place finish.
A-D-M notched a top-three finish in the 800-meter sprint medley relay. Bertman, Anderson, Bjustrom and Kenny’s time of 1:55.42 was good for another state qualifier.
The Tigers’ girls ran the distance medley in 4:27.91 with the group of Schepers, Baier, Hauf and Juergens.
A-D-M boys qualified for some relays, too. In the 4x200-meter relay, the Tigers earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:34.43. Reece McLaughlin, Trey Volz, Austin Flora and David Howard ran in the event.
The Tigers’ boys also fared well in the 4x400-meter relay. With a time of 3:33.33, Brady Perry, Volz, Howard and McLaughlin helped A-D-M to state.
In the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay, the Tigers qualified with a time of 1:01.36. Caleb Weddle, Flora, Sam McCartney and Jacob West ran for A-D-M.
Individually for the girls, Juergens and Brianna Mueller qualified in the 800-meter run. Mueller placed first at districts, and Juergens finished right behind her for second place.
Maggi Bjustrom continued her excellent season in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished first and will be representing A-D-M at Drake Stadium.
In the long jump, Bertman’s distance of 16 feet, two inches earned her a spot in state competition.
For the A-D-M boys, Jacob West will compete at state in the high jump, after finishing first with a height of 6-01.
The Tigers’ boys will also have a long jumper at state. McLaughlin qualified with a distance of 20-03.00.
In the shot put, Mason Warmuth bested the competition at districts. His distance of 44-08.00 earned him a trip to state.
A-D-M will be well-represented in Des Moines for state competition May 19-21.
