Adel-DeSoto-Minburn girls’ track and field finished tied for second in the Raccoon River Conference Meet on Saturday, May 7 at Bondurant-Farrar.

Along with Carlisle, the Tigers racked up 119 points and were bested only by Boone, which scored 140.

Maggi Bjustrom had a strong showing for A-D-M. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.26 seconds. The senior also came out on top in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time was 14.85. In addition, Bjustrom was part of a first-place relay team.

Freshman Anna Kenny placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of one minute, 1.03 seconds.

Brianna Mueller picked up a pair of second-place finishes. She finished in 2:31.78 in the 800-meter run and 5:06.85 in the 1500-meter run. Mueller was also on two first-place relay teams.

A-D-M performed excellently in the relays, taking five of the seven contests. The Tigers’ wins came in the 4x400-meter, 4x800-meter, 400-meter shuttle hurdle, 800-meter sprint medley and 1600-meter distance medley.

In the sprint and distance medleys, A-D-M ran season-best times of 1:56.21 and 4:33.21, respectively.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will have a state-qualifying meet at Winterset on Thursday, May 12. The state meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines looms in the not-too-distant future on May 19. A-D-M appears poised to compete.
