The first round of accolades have officially rolled in for the Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ soccer team. Earlier today the IGCA released their 2018 All-District teams and within the All-Central district were five DC-G girls’ soccer stars.


The Fillies had two members earn All-District first team honors including Emma Angus and Lexi Smith. Smith has been a strong piece to the DC-G puzzle this season scoring three goals and earning seven points in the process. Smith is a the only returning Filly from the 2017 All Central-District first team. Freshman Emma has been a defensive star for the Fillies and part of a skilled defense that put up eight shutout wins this season.


The Fillies also had three individuals earn second team all district honors including Jaci Versluis, Maddie Duey, and Sami Sterbenz. Duey, a junior star for the Fillies, currently leads DC-G in goals scored with eight on the season from 20 shots on goal. Sophomore Jaci Versluis has amassed a total of two goals scored with four points while Sterbenz has also been a defensive machine for the Fillies.


Dallas Center-Grimes will take part in the sub-state final match up in Adel tonight against A-D-M to decide who will move on to the 2018 state tournament. Kick off from A-D-M stadium will begin at 6 p.m.
