It was a race against mother nature that called or half an inch to an inch of rain but in the end the Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ golf team played on Wednesday afternoon.


The Fillies were involved in a six team, 18 hole tournament at the Lakeview Country Club in Winterset. The Fillies once again put up a strong showing coming out with a third place finish and a team score of 394.


Lydia Steier took on the roll of leader for Dallas Center-Grimes, finishing with an 18 hole score of 93. That score originally placed the junior in fourth but due to card back tie breakers, ended up 6th overall out of 35 golfers.Steier led the Fillies in both her front nine and back nine scores (45 and 48). Senior Sarah Rauschenberg was not too far behind placing 9th overall with a stroke count of 98. Aubree Klung put on a one par performance en rout to an 18 hole mark of 101 to take 13th place for the meet.


Annagrace Dalbey rounded out the scorecard with a season best 18 hole score of 102 while rising freshman Emerson Kleis posted a career best nine hole score with a 51. Kleis would then proceed to play a solid back nine to round out her 18 hole score with a total of 104 strokes Regan Stokely rounded out all Filly scoring with a front nine of 52 and a back nine score of 55 resulting in an 18 hole total of 107.


Next up for the Fillies golf squad will be a return trip home to Beaver Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, May 8. There the Fillies will take on a conference triangular against Grinnell and Oskaloosa beginning at 3 p.m.
