Dreary cold conditions were not enough to stop the Dallas Center-Grimes boys’ golf team from joining an 11 team field at the Dutch Masters Invitational Friday, April 13th.

Within that field of 11, Mustang head coach Jordan Ray witnessed his team place seventh overall with an 18 hole team total of 366. The top spot for the invitational went to the home town Pella squad who shot a team total of 337 strokes.

For the Mustangs Derek Shanno once again led the way shooting a 14-over 86 under far less than ideal conditions. Shanno had a seven par performance highlighted by two birdies on holes two and 16.

Carter Bowen followed Shanno in score totaling a mark of 89 for his 18 holes while Tate Calease broke out for third on the team with an 18 hole round of 95, just two shots off his season 18 hole low score. Keegan Bianchi came in at fourth on the Mustangs roster with a 96 for the invite while Darren Werth and Ethan Blum both ended their evenings with a 18 hole score of 98.

With the meet originally scheduled for Monday, April 16th postponed, the next chance to get back on the course for the Mustangs will be Tuesday, April 17th. There they will be in the friendly confines of Beaver Creek Golf Course in a conference triangular with Oskaloosa and Pella Christian beginning at 3 pm.
