In just their fourth outing of the season, the Dallas Center-Grimes boys golf team looked like they were in mid season form besting a six team field at the Woodward-Granger Boys invite Thursday.
The Mustangs as a team shot a collective 319 placing them first above second place A-D-M at 321, and Ballard in third place with a 335. The rest of the field was rounded out with Madrid in fourth shooting 368, Perry in fifth shooting a collective 375, and host Woodward-Granger shooting a collective 380.
It was an 18 hole journey and for the Mustangs that journey was paced by junior Derek Shanno who’s score of one over par 71 earned him a runner up medal just two shots off of the top spot. The top medalist honor went to A-D-M’s Micah Moyer who shot an 18 hole score of one under (69). Shanno totaled ten pars and two birdies on his way to breaking his prior 18 hole career low of 78 set last year.
Sophomore Ethan Blum had quite the showing as well posting DC-G’s second lowest total of 82 through 18 holes. He totaled eight pars in rout to the strong finish. Following Blum was the tandem of Keegan Bianchi and Carter Bowen who both took 83 strokes to complete their afternoon on the golf course. The scores were then rounded out with Darren Werth’s 89 and Tate Calease’s 93.
Next up for the Mustangs will be a return trip back to the Bos Laden Golf Course in Pella for the Dutch Masters Invitational that was rescheduled from April 4th. The meet will tee off beginning at 1 pm this afternoon.
