A good day to play golf turned into a first place finish for the Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ golf team Thursday in Adel.

Held at the River Valley Golf Course, the Fillies were paired up against the hometown A-D-M Tigers and the Woodward-Granger Hawks.

When all was said and done, the Fillies came away victorious winning with a team score of 202 which was followed by host A-D-M with a 245, while Woodward-Granger shot a collective 250 through nine holes. Junior Lydia Steier put up a three par performance to lead not just the Fillies, but the entire meet earning top medalist honor with 45 strokes through nine holes. Steier came up just two strokes shy of her career best in lowest nine hole score.

Following Steier on the day was Sarah Rauschenberg who came up just seven strokes short of her career nine hole low with a round of 50 for the meet. The future collegiate star was also the second leading scorer for the entire meet.

Rauschenberg was followed by Aubree Klug who had a solid outing highlighted by a nice approach shot on hole number six to secure a par en rout to a score of 53 for the meet. Klug was then followed up by Annagrace Dalbey chipping in a nine hole score of 54, Grace Wengert with a nine hole stroke count of 61, and finally Emerson Kleis who graduated to the varsity level Thursday and added a score of 60 to the mix.

Such a strong showing by the Fillies will look to be replicated Saturday as Dallas Center-Grimes wakes up bright and early for an 8 am meet in Winterset. The meet will take place at the Lakeview Country Club where the Fillies will battle it out with Chariton, Clarke, Creston Community, Nodaway Valley, Norwalk, Perry, Van Meter, and host Winterset.
