The Dallas Center-Grimes boys soccer team continued with perfection Tuesday night blanking their opponent for the second straight game and giving the hometown fans a win in their home opening win over Newton 4-0.
With already a shutout victor on their belts. the Mustangs vaulted to 2-0 on the young season by securing their fifth straight win against the Cardinals in the past five years. It was a balanced attack by the Mustangs who held a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to junior Nate Friesen and senior Nolan Grimes.
The second half mirrored what the first half brought in scoring thanks to two more goals with one coming off of the foot of last years’ team scoring leader Tucker Kiley. Kiley posted his second goal and fourth point of the 2018 season. Fellow junior Noah Webster took home his second goal of the season as well to finalize the scoring frenzy leaving the Mustangs with an undefeated early record.
The next time the Mustangs will put that unblemished record to the test will be on Monday, April 16th in Oskaloosa. The Mustangs will look to keep yet another opponent at bay without a goal and that task appears very obtainable as Dallas Center-Grimes has had Oskaloosa’s number over the past few years averaging seven goals per game over the past four seasons while averaging just one goal against in that same time frame.
Varsity kickoff from Lacey Sports Complex will begin at 5:30 pm with the JV contest to follow at 7 pm.
