Two conference powerhouses collided on the golf course Tuesday afternoon as the Dallas Center-Grimes girls golf team welcomed in Indianola to Beaver Creek Golf Course.
It was a nine hole competition and while the visiting Indians secured the top two medalist spots on the way to a team score of 238, the Fillies took hold of the next four spots to help them secure the overall team win shooting 221.
Last years conference fourth best nine hole golfer in Maddy Wedmore from Indianola took the crown individually with a 51 on the evening followed by fellow teammate Anna Marvelli who shot a 52. For the Fillies it was future Southwestern Community College star Sarah Rauschenberg posting up a two par day to finish with shooting a 53 through nine holes. Rauschenberg’s two pars came on excellent finishes on holes six and seven to secure a third place finish.
Last year’s nine hole average leader for DC-G in Lydia Steier followed Rauschenberg shooting a 55 for the round while the Fillies list continued with Annagrace Dalbey placing fifth with a mark of 56 strokes, Aubree Klug placing sixth with shooting a 57, Grace Wengert placing eighth through nine holes with a 61, and finally Kara-Lyn Moran rounding out varsity action shooting a 65.
There was some very strong showings out of the Fillies JV squad which was most highlighted by Emmerson Kleis who placed seventh overall with a nine hole mark of 60.
The next competitive action for the Fillies will take them away from Beaver Creek Golf Course and send them to River Valley Golf Course where they will look for their third first place team finish against former conference rival A-D- M. The meet will tee off from Adel beginning at 4 pm.
