The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs traveled to Indianola on Friday, Jan. 5 to play the Indians. The Mustangs fell to the Indians 51-31.
Right off the bat, the game started off rough for the Mustangs. At the end of the first quarter, the Indians led 20-1. The Mustangs were only able to score another nine points the first half, but the Indians only scored eight. The Mustangs continued to keep up in the third and fourth quarters, but it wasn’t enough to outscore the Indians and make a come back.
Tyler Borneman was the Mustangs’ leading scorer. He made two three pointers to finish the game with six points.
Justin Protzman followed Borneman with five points. Protzman made a field goal and a three pointer.
Protzman and Borneman also led the Mustangs in rebounds. Protzman finished the night with ten, three offensive and seven defensive. Borneman had just four rebounds, two offensive and two defensive.
The Mustangs had just four assists on Friday. Jordan Humphreys, Damon Clapper, Devon Johnson and Gabe Peterman each had one.
As a team, the Mustangs had three steals against the Indians. The steals were spread out among Trenton Meggers, Justin Biegger and Cole Benson. Protzman, Clapper and Peterman each had one block as well.
With the 51-31 loss, the Mustangs hold a 6-4 record so far this season. The Mustangs next game is on Tuesday, Jan. 9 against Pella Christian at 7:45 p.m.
