On Dec. 19 the Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies played the Grinnell Tigers. The Fillies fell to the Tigers 79-52.

The game started out even with both teams scoring just 11 points in the first quarter. The Tigers were then able to take the lead when they scored 25 points and held the Fillies to just nine. At halftime the Tiger led the Fillies 36-20. The Tigers continued to outscore the Fillies in the third and fourth quarters.

Of the Fillies’ 52 points, senior Jenna Borchers led the team with 22 points. Borchers scored three field goals, four three pointers and all four of her free throws.

Elizabeth Elfvin was the second leader for the Fillies with just seven points. She scored a field goal, a three pointer and two free throws on the Tigers.

Leticia Nolte and Jordan Cunningham tied for leader in rebounds for the Fillies with six each. Nolte had three offensive and defensive rebounds and Cunningham had two offensive and four defensive rebounds.

Borchers was also the Fillies’ leader in assists two. Borchers and Cunningham tied in steals with two a piece. Cunningham also had both of the Fillies’ blocks against the Tigers.

With the 79-52 loss, the Fillies are 6-3 this season. They won’t be playing again until Tuesday, Jan. 2. The Fillies will be taking on Boone at home at 5 p.m.
