On Thursday, Dec. 7, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs hosted a home quadrangular against Indianola, Webster City and Ballard. The Mustangs went 2-1 at the meet, only losing 50-21 to Ballard but taking victories against Indianola (45-28) and Webster City (48-33).


The Mustangs took on Indianola in their first round. The Mustangs had seven falls (including one forfeit) to the Indians three.


Harrison Livingston, Max Tracy and Bain Broderick led the Mustangs.


Tracy, at 132 pounds, was able to pin Brock Elbert in a mere 26 seconds. Livingston (126) pinned the Indians’ Blaine Burmingham in just 35 seconds. In the 145 pounds match, Broderick won by fall in 1:30 over Indian Sean Cunningham.


Mustangs Gavin Moran (120), Zane Mulder (160) and Ty Chambers (170) also won by fall. Ayden Kovaleski won the 113 pound match by forfeit.


The Mustangs beat the Webster City Lynx in the second round, 48-33. The Mustangs put up eight pins, while the Lynx had five.


Livingston, Tracy and Mulder led the Mustangs against the Lynx.


It took Tracy just 14 seconds to pin the Lynx’s Brady Auderer. In the 160 pound match, Mulder pinned Harrison Hayes in 30 seconds. Just 1:07 into the match, and Livingston had pinned Lynx Nick Gasca.


Broderick (145), Luke Fistler (152), Chambers (170), Rowan Collins (195) and Brady Simmons (220) all pinned their Lynx opponents.


The Mustangs lost their final match of the meet against the Ballard Bombers. The Bombers beat the Mustangs 50-21. The Mustangs had just two falls over the Bombers, while they were able to pin the Mustangs seven times. The Mustangs also lost points from unsportsmanlike conduct.


Dakota Arends and Chambers were the two Mustangs to pin their Bomber opponents.


Arends, wrestling at 106 pounds, won by fall in 2:41 over Elijah Colliflower. Chamber wrestled Bomber Gerald Gute, whom he pinned in 3:42.
