The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played at the Perry Bluejays’ Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 22. After the 42-7 victory over the Bluejays, the Mustangs are now 5-0 on the season.

The Mustangs’ quarterback, Damon Clapper, had ten completed pass on Friday night out of his 15 attempts. Clapper had threw 113 total yards, including one touchdown for 42 yards.

Luke Fistler and Tanner Epple led the Mustangs in rushing yards. Both Mustangs scored two rushing touchdowns as well.

Fistler led with ten rushing attempts for 176 yards. Of his two touchdowns, the longest was for 79 yards. Epple had 11 rushing attempts for 107 yards, his longest touchdown was for seven yards.

Senior Ben Harwood scored the fifth rushing touchdown for the Mustangs. Harwood had just four attempts for 15 rushing yards against the Bluejays. His touchdown was for five yards.

Thomas Erickson scored the Mustangs’ only receiving touchdown. The senior had four receptions for 63 yards and an average of 15.8 yards per catch. Erickson’s one touchdown was for 42 of his 63 yards.

Kicker Austin James scored all six of the PATs to finish up the Mustangs’ score of the night.

On defense, Brady Simmons led the Mustangs in tackles. Simmons finished the game with a total of five tackles, four solo and two assisted.

Following Simmons was Trent Carpenter, Daly Jarnagin and Coty Lemon, who each had 3.5 tackles against the Bluejays. Carpenter had two solo tackles and three tackle assists. Lemon and Jarnagin had three solo and one assisted tackle.

The Mustangs have their Homecoming game this Friday (Sept. 29). They will be playing Webster City at 7:30 p.m.
