To continue their perfect season, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played the Ballard Bombers on Friday, Sept. 15., winning 40-7 for a 4-0 record.


Quarterback Damon Clapper finished the game with 20 passing attempts, ten of which were completed. Clapper threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, his longest touchdown was for 80 yards.


Garrett Belzer was on the receiving end of the 80-yard touchdown. Belzer had two receptions for 93 yards against the Bombers. He finished the game with 46.5 yards per catch and the one 80-yard touchdown.


Tanner Epple also had one receiving touchdown. Epple had three receptions, for 30 yards with his touchdown being for five yards.


Clapper also scored one rushing touchdown from five rushing attempts. He finished the game with a total of 82 rushing yards, with 76 of those yards coming from his touchdown.


Epple had 11 rushing rushing attempts against the Bombers. He had a final total of 91 yards and an average of 8.3 yards per carry. Epple’s one touchdown was for six yards.


Luke Fistler averaged 3.1 yards per carry on his 22 rushing yards from his seven attempts on Friday. Fistler also scored a one-yard touchdown.


Kicker Austin James score ten points for the Mustangs. James scored four of his five attempts at a PAT and made both of his field goal attempts.


The leaders in tackles for the Mustangs were Trent Carpenter and Rowan Collins. Carpenter finished the game with 11 tackles; eight solo, six tackle assists and two solo tackles for loss. Collins had seven solo tackles, one tackle assist, one solo tackle for loss and one solo sack for a total of 7.5 tackles.


The Mustangs beat the Bombers 40-7 and will be playing in Perry for the Bluejays’ homecoming on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
