Members of the Grimes Chamber & Economic Development recently joined in a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the Kickback Cafe in Grimes. The business is the latest to open in an area of Grimes known as the Governors District, so named to honor Iowa Gov. James W. Grimes. The downtown area is undergoing a major restoration, including a complete rebuilding of five blocks of SE Main Street. Nancy Gordon is the owner of the cafe. The cafe is open six days a week for breakfast and lunch and is also open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings for drinks, appetizers and some live entertainment.
